U Maw Than, the Auditor General of the Union received the ROSC Accounting and Auditing Due Diligence Mission from The World Bank Group led by Mr. Christopher Robert Fabling, Team Leader and Senior Financial Management Specialist and the mission from The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales- ICAEW led by Mr. Mark Campbell, Head of International Capacity Building at the Office of the Auditor of the Union, Nay Pyi Taw at 9:30 a.m. on May 12, 2016.
In the meeting, they discussed about the situation on the adoption of International Financial Reporting Standards and International Standards on Auditing, the role of Myanmar Accountancy Council (MAC) and Myanmar Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA), increase production of qualified professional accountants, condition of the operation of the foreign accounting professional organizations in Myanmar, factors needed for strengthening MICPA and the collaboration between ICAEW and MICPA.
At the meeting, Permanent Secretary and responsible officers from the Office of the Auditor General of the Union and representatives from MAC were also present.
