U Maw Than, Union Auditor General, attended the 4th ASEAN Supreme Audit Institutions Summit which was held in Vientiane, Lao People's Democratic Republic on 6 November, 2017.
At the Summit, Auditor Generals and representatives from ASEAN Countries and representatives from donor countries were present. The reports of the performance of the Strategic Planning Committee, Rules and Procedures Committee, Knowledge Sharing Committee, Training Committee, Head of Administration Function and Head of Secretariat Function for the period 2015-2017 were presented by respective committee and approval was made. They also approved the Financial Statements of ASEANSAI for the years 2016 and 2017, the 1st amendment of ASEANSAI Rules and Procedures, and Strategic Plan (2018-2021). Then the Work Plans and Budgets of the respective ASEANSAI Committees and Budget of ASEANSAI for the year 2018-2019 were presented and approval was made.
During the event, President of State Audit Organization of Lao PDR and Auditor General of Malaysia were appointed as the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of ASEANSAI for the tenure 2018-2019. The appointment of SAI Indonesia as longer term Secretariat office for the period 2018-2023 and the appointment of SAI Thailand as the ASEANSAI Auditor for Financial Statements for the years 2016 and 2017 were also approved.
