The workshops led by TC of ASEANSAI are hosted by member SAIs in rotation. At this time, WAPP was hosted by the OAGU at Park Royal Hotel,Nay Pyi Taw beginning from 31st October to till 6th November, 2016.
In the workshop, Director General of Audit Department delivered a welcome speech. In her speech, she stressedit is very important that the public procurement function is discharged honestly, fairly and in a manner that secures best value for public money. She urged that the participants from all members SAIs will have intense discussion, in the spirit of cooperation and sharing about knowledge, experience and good practice of audit of public procurement and related issues. Moreover, she expressed her heartfelt appreciation to all the colleagues in ASENSAI community, Knowledge Sharing Committee(KSC), TC, Instructors / Resource Persons and GIZ for their gracious support with the OAGU closely and effectively to make necessary preparation for this workshop.
It was attended by the responsible persons from the OAGU, the participants from ASEANSAI members and also the observers from ASEAN Secretariat.
During the workshop sessions, the participants and the instructors discussed the purpose, understanding the process, assessment of risk and internal control, audit planning, audit executing, designing audit procedures, collecting audit evidence, making audit conclusions and recommendations, preparation of audit report concerned with subject matter exchanging more practical exercises.
The Union Auditor General hosted a welcome dinner to the workshop participants on 1st November 2016.It was successfully concluded handing out the Certificates of participation to each participant by DawThandar Lay, Director from International Relations Division on 5th November 2016. In the same way, GIZ also served a farewell dinner on last day of the workshop.
For the purpose of learning the history, culture and tradition of the country and people of Myanmar by the participants, the OAGU provided one day excursion to the places such as Defense Services Museum, National Museum and Gems Museum nearby Nay Pyi Taw. The Wrap Up and Evaluation Meeting on the feedbacks of the participants was held comprising the responsible persons from the OAGU, the Instructors/ Resource Persons from SAI Philippines and SAI Malaysia and representatives from GIZ as well in the evening of 6th November 2016.
