1. The 6th Summit of ASEAN Supreme Audit Institutions (6th ASEANSAI Summit) was held from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM on 2nd November 2021 via video-conference divided into two sessions and hosted by SAI Myanmar.
2. Head of ASEANSAI Secretariat, delegations led by Auditors General and Deputy Auditors General from 10 ASEAN nations, delegates from ASEANSAI Development Partners, attended the meeting; Myanmar delegation led by the Union Auditor General comprising the Permanent Secretary, the Director General (Audit Department), the Deputy Permanent Secretary and the Assistant Secretary joined the meeting at the room of ASEANSAI Chairman.
3. The Opening session was started with the display of the National Anthem of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the ASEANSAI Song. Firstly, the Honorable Prof. Dr Kan Zaw, Union Auditor General of SAI Myanmar, incoming Chairman of ASEANSAI delivered a welcoming address and an opening address was delivered by Mr. Rosalan Abu Baker, the Deputy Auditor General of Malaysia on the behalf of the Auditor General of Malaysia, Chairman of ASEANSAI. And then Gen. Chanathap Indamra, Chairman of ASOSAI and President of the State Audit Commission of the Kingdom of Thailand and Mr. Dato’ Paduka Lim Jock Hoi, Secretary General of ASEAN delivered their pre-recorded speeches respectively. After that, Vice Senior General Soe Win, Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council and Deputy Prime Minister, delivered his opening remarks as guest of honour by video message. Then Auditors General, Deputy Auditors General and Head of ASEANSAI Secretariat took recording group photos and the opening session concluded.
4. At the opening of the meeting session I, the Union Auditor General delivered an opening address on behalf of the current Chairman of ASEANSAI. And then, the Consolidated Progress Reports of ASEANSAI Committees and the Secretariat for 2020 and 2021, the ASEANSAI Strategic Plan 2022-2025, the Revised ASEANSAI Rules and Procedures, the Revised ToR of Knowledge Sharing Committee, Decision for the Proposal on ASEANSAI Legal Capacity were approved.
5. Then appointment of the Union Auditor General and the Chairperson of the Commission on Audit of the Philippines as Chairman and Vice Chairman for coming 2 years, farewell speech by the Deputy Auditor General of Malaysia, displaying a video clip on the launch of Commemoration Book 2019-2021 regarding the Chairmanship of ASEANSAI by SAI Malaysia and a video clip on the ceremony of the handover of the ASEANSAI flag and the “gavel”, which was used by the Chairman of ASEANSAI in deciding in the ASEANSAI Summit, from the Auditor General of Malaysia to the Union Auditor General, the speech by the Union Auditor General on the receiving of the Chairmanship of ASEANSAI, taking recording photos of Auditors General, Deputy Auditors General and Head of ASEANSAI Secretariat , outgoing Chairman and upcoming Chairman, upcoming Chairman and upcoming Vice Chairman were conducted and the meeting session I concluded.
6. In the meeting session II, opening address by Prof. Dr. Kan Zaw, the Union Auditor General as the new Chairman of ASEANSAI, remarks by Mr. Michal Aguinaldo, the Chairperson of the Commission on Audit of the Philippines, appointment and approval of ASEANSAI Committees’ Chair 2022-2023, approval of Consolidated ASEANSAI Committees’ Work Plans 2022-2023, appointment and approval of ASEANSAI Auditor for financial statements for 2020 and 2021, approval of proposed budget 2022-2023 for ASEANSAI activities and taking recording photos of all delegates were conducted. Finally, the 6th ASEANSAI Summit was officially closed after the closing remarks by the Union Auditor General, the Chairman of ASEANSAI.
7. Moreover, the Preparatory Meeting and the Technical Meeting in preparation for the successful holding of the 6th Summit were also hosted by SAI Myanmar via videoconference on 1-11-2021 and Myanmar delegation led by the Deputy Permanent Secretary attended the meetings.
