1. In order to get further co-operation between the Office of the Auditor General of the Union (OAG) and German International Cooperation (GIZ) in the implementation and enforcement of IFRS and ISA in Myanmar’s financial and banking sector, OAG and GIZ entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 16th March 2016 at the Office of the Auditor General of the Union, Nay Pyi Taw.
2. The MOU was signed by Daw Khin San Oo, Permanent Secretary/ Director General of Administration, Training and Research Department, Office of the Auditor General of the Union, and Mr.Thomas Foerch, Head of Project, Financial Sector Development in Myanmar and Mr. Anthony Deary, Head of Component, Financial Sector Development in Myanmar from GIZ.
3. In the signing ceremony, the Union Auditor General gave an opening speech. He said, GIZ has been providing not only support for the implementation and enforcement of IFRS and ISA in Myanmar’s financial and banking sector but also human capacity development of OAG, such as delivery of workshops on IFRS and ISA, provision of English training and organization of study visits, and with the signing of this MoU, the implementation and enforcement of IFRS and ISA will be undertaken in momentum.
4. Union Auditor General, Director General of Audit Department, Deputy Director Generals and Directors from OAG witnessed the signing ceremony.
