Holding Myanmar Public Sector Accounting Conference
1.    With the support of European Union Trust Fund and Technical Assistance of the World Bank, Office of the Auditor General of the Union and Ministry of Planning and Finance jointly hosted “Myanmar Public Sector Accounting Conference” at Hilton Hotel, Nay Pyi Taw from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm on 12th August, 2019. The Conference aimed at the government organizations’ awareness of the importance of accounting standards.
2.    Firstly, the Auditor General of the Union and the Minister of Planning and Finance delivered their opening speeches. Following the speeches, experts from the World Bank, international accounting fields, respective organizations/ businesses, in a total of 13 experts, discussed the Myanmar Public Sector Accounting Reform, key implications of the transition to International Public Sector Accounting Standards- IPSAS, the experiences of two countries which have adopted IPSAS and the situations of transition to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) in private sector, and then respective experts discussed questions raised by the participants.
3.    U Maung Maung Win, Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Planning and Finance delivered the closing address.
4.    In the Conference, the heads, ministers, deputy ministers and responsible persons from Union level government organizations, representatives of Development Partners, responsible persons from Myanmar Accountancy Council, Myanmar Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Myanmar Banks Association, Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, private banks and Myanmar Insurance were present.
